The equipment technician’s role over the past 20 years has developed into much more than just a person on the staff who keeps the equipment operational. With the increase in golf courses around the world there simply are not enough skilled technicians to meet the needs of every course. This is the case due to many reasons, however we believe career awareness to be the biggest. The GCSAA helped develop the Superintendent position into one that’s matured over the years as well. They have taken on more responsibility and have in turn gained much more respect. It is for these reasons that we have formed the "Inland Empire Equipment Managers Association" (IEEMA). An equipment technician is responsible for all the equipment that maintains the golf course on a daily basis. With that being said the equipment technician has a duty to make sure every member and guest experiences a golf course that is in beautiful condition everyday. The position they hold can determine whether that guest returns to the golf course to play again or if today is the last time they see your golf course. IEEMA is dedicated to expanding the education, enhancing the professionalism and improving the image of the Golf Course Equipment Manager and Turf Equipment Technician in the Inland Empire. When the IEEMA was first formed, our mission was to create a highly-recognizable, properly-managed, trustworthy organization dedicated to our profession. To represent the interests of our members, the industry and the game at all levels. Provide education and other career-development opportunities and continually elevate our professional standard. At this time, the association has only a hand full of members and no elected officers. This fall meeting may be our last if we do not increase our numbers. If you are in a position to encourage your Equipment Manager or Technician to join us, please do so. I have agreed to take on the responsibility's of running the association until such time as we have increased our numbers and elect a president and other officers. Thank you for your consideration.
